Scholarly Communication

The Center for the Humanities is dedicated to examining existing systems of academic publication and knowledge distribution in order to foster productive discussion about how scholars can operate most effectively within the context of 21st century culture, technology, and economics. Existing university presses are having difficulty remaining financially sustainable, and prominent academic leaders are questioning universities’ reliance on traditional models of publication for purposes of hiring, tenure and promotion. We organize workshops, programs, and campus lectures on innovative ways for scholars to conduct and communicate their research, including models of open-access publishing and peer review.
