The core purpose of the “piracy” workshop has been to create a conversation about the various ways different disciplines approach the challenges of studying piracy, both in historical and contemporary contexts. This group partners with the San Diego Maritime Museum and other members of the local San Diego community who have experience with piracy, international law, or presenting maritime history and culture in museums.

The convener is Mark Hanna (History) and participants come from History, Literature, Sociology, Political Science, and the Scripps Institute of Oceanography.
