Comic Studies examines what theories, methods, questions, applications, and pedagogies might constitute and emerge from a critical engagement with comics. Comics and graphic novels as forms of narrative illustration and communication are not new but do seem to be experiencing a resurgence as a popular form of cultural production in a variety of domains, including entertainment, pedagogy, and edutainment. This group will study the genre from an array of disciplinary perspectives to better draw out the contours and contributions of the field.

Conveners include Marisa Brandt (Communication), Emily York (Communication), and Erika Cheng (Communication).
